Richard T. Purvis, Psy.D.
Dr. Purvis has been practicing psychology in the Louisville area for over 20 years working in public service, doctoral education and training, professional consultation, mentoring and direct clinical practice.
Dr. Purvis was a partner in the pre-existing Bloch, Purvis & Associates, PLLC for 8 years where he provided psychotherapy for general clinical issues as well as offering therapy for specialized populations including PTSD, survivors of childhood trauma, GLBT, couples, and group. He has been Managing Partner for the practice since May of 2011. His current interests include the emerging area of interpersonal neurobiology and its correlates with psychodynamic theory and practice. He received his undergraduate degree form Vanderbilt University and his Masters and Doctor of Psychology from Spalding University. He completed his internship at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.
He was awarded the Outstanding Service Award by the Kentucky Psychological Association in 2004 in recognition of his “significant contributions to psychological practice and advocacy for the underserved.”
Dr. Purvis is a member of the American Psychological Association and the Kentucky Psychological Association.
He is on most insurance panels including, Humana, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Behavioral Health/United Health Care, Aetna, Medicare, and others.
